Compassionate Therapy for Adults in Conyers, GA and Online Throughout Georgia
The past doesn’t have to continue controlling your life.
If you’re searching for trauma therapy in Conyers, GA, you probably feel deeply drained from carrying pain other people can’t fully see or understand.
You’ve tried to move forward, but your mind and body still feel stuck in survival mode. You find yourself anxious, constantly on edge, easily triggered, disconnected, or overthinking situations and relationships long after they happen.
Part of you wants peace, steadiness, and relief. Another part feels exhausted from trying to hold everything together while silently carrying so much pain.
I provide trauma counseling for adults struggling with childhood trauma, painful past experiences, anxiety, unhealthy relationship patterns, constant internal stress, and unresolved emotional wounds. Whether your trauma is recent or rooted in childhood, healing is possible!
✧ Are You Struggling with the Effects of Trauma? ✧
You’re stuck in survival mode — constantly anxious, emotionally exhausted, disconnected, or overwhelmed by memories and emotions you can’t seem to escape.
You wonder:
“Why can’t I just move on?”
“Why do I keep repeating unhealthy relationship patterns?”
“Why do I feel so anxious or emotionally reactive?”
“Why do I struggle to trust people or feel safe?”
Trauma impacts far more than memories. It affects relationships, self-worth, emotional regulation, work performance, and even your sense of identity.
Maybe you’ve experienced:
⟡ Childhood trauma
⟡ Emotional abuse
⟡ Toxic or unhealthy relationships
⟡ Anxiety connected to past experiences
⟡ Religious or spiritual wounds
⟡ Grief or painful loss
⟡ PTSD symptoms
⟡ Chronic stress or emotional overwhelm
✦. Childhood Trauma Can Continue to Affect Adult Life .✦
Sometimes current struggles are connected to past events.
Painful childhood experiences, emotional neglect, criticism, unhealthy family dynamics, instability, or difficult relationships can continue affecting the way you:
⟡ Respond to stress
⟡ Connect with other people
⟡ Experience trust and closeness
⟡ Set boundaries
⟡ Handle conflict
⟡ View yourself and your worth
Perhaps you’ve noticed yourself constantly trying to keep the peace, over-functioning for others, struggling to say no, fearing abandonment, or feeling unsafe in close relationships. These patterns are not signs that you’re broken. They’re often survival responses that developed over time… and were never fully healed.
✧How Trauma Therapy Can Help✧
You’ve spent years surviving. Trauma therapy can help you finally begin healing.
Through therapy, you can:
⟡ Reduce anxiety and overwhelming emotional reactions
⟡ Feel calmer, safer, and more grounded
⟡ Process painful memories in a manageable way
⟡ Develop healthier relationship patterns and boundaries
⟡ Experience greater peace, confidence, and connection to yourself and others
Healing is not about pretending the past never happened. It’s about helping the past stop controlling your present. Rather than simply managing symptoms, trauma therapy focuses on understanding the deeper emotional patterns and experiences that continue affecting your relationships, emotions, and sense of self today. Over time, trauma therapy can help you feel more connected to yourself, more secure in relationships, and less controlled by fear, anxiety, or past pain.

FAQs about Trauma Therapy in Conyers, GA
-
When many people think of trauma, they think of “the big stuff” like war, sexual abuse, plane crash, or sudden death of a loved one. But almost any event can be experienced as trauma for our brain. One definition of trauma I use is “any event from outside of your power/control/conscious choice which contradicts your identity to the point that it raises your stress to toxic levels and creates unacceptable losses.” Trauma is not necessarily determined by the event, but by the person’s experience of the event. What is experienced as traumatic by one person, may not be experienced as traumatic by another person, and vice-versa.
Examples of some of the lesser known adverse experiences/ trauma I’ve helped people work through are:
Emotional neglect
Childhood attachment issues
Abandonment
First responder experiences
Death of a pet
Parent’s Separation or Divorce
Addiction
Significant other’s pornography use
Narcissistic significant other
Unstable childhood
Conflict with adult children
Chronic or terminal illness
Childhood surgeries
Living with a parent with mental illness

The length of trauma therapy is determined by several factors. Most importantly, though, is the nature of the trauma. If you’ve experienced a single event or brief trauma, it will take less time to process than a more complicated or long-term event. My clients usually spend anywhere from six months to a year and a half in therapy with me.
