It’s time to get to the heart of the matter.

Meet Christyn Walker, Therapist near Atlanta

You’re stuck in a cycle of pain. One that might have started recently, or perhaps years or even decades ago. You’ve tried your best to handle it on your own, but realize you can’t anymore. Maybe you’ve even been to counseling before, but it didn’t provide much relief or answers.

I work with clients who are looking for a deeper therapy process.

My approach to counseling is source focused. We’ll work to stabilize and manage the issues that bring you in, while exploring possible sources – the deeper reasons why these problems continue to appear. My philosophy is that most on-going problems people struggle with have beliefs rooted in harmful experiences. Sometimes these experiences are obvious. Other times they are hidden, like bombs in a minefield, ready for just the right pressure to cause them to explode.

A Strategic Plan for Therapy

Because our brains are like supercomputers, we are constantly learning from our experiences. They have a profound effect on what and how we think – about ourselves, others, men, women, relationships, spirituality, etc. In therapy, we’ll create a plan to heal from the inside out: starting at the heart of the matter, resolving the deeper issues, and identifying and challenging the negative beliefs they created. As we address the source, you’ll not only experience relief and healing from past or present pain, but also notice behaviors, beliefs, and attitudes changing outwardly as well. This, in turn, can positively influence your family, relationships, and future experiences.

Therapy can be a comfortable place to deal with uncomfortable stuff.

Many types of therapy are symptom-focused; they address what’s obvious on the surface. This works well for some. But when it comes to trauma, substance abuse, and on-going issues, it’s important to look deeper. Talk therapy may initially create temporary change, but many struggling with these issues end up feeling discouraged when it doesn’t last.

Using a source-focused perspective is very helpful for my clients. I’ve worked with those struggling with trauma, substance abuse, and relationship issues for over a decade. The model of therapy I use has helped many of my clients break cycles of pain, problem behaviors, anxiety, low self-esteem, and other issues. By digging deeper, they find lasting healing and long-term change, shifting the trajectory of their future and their relationships.

My clients appreciate the non-judgmental, safe, and comfortable atmosphere that I provide. I strive to understand, empathize, advocate for you, and even motivate as needed. I meet you where you are and act as a supportive guide through your unique process of healing. How you are doing along the way is important to me, so we’ll also check in regularly about how you feel about me and your counseling experience. Lastly, because it takes time to dig deep, we’ll set weekly appointments, so you see progress as soon as possible.
